This Month's Thoughts...September

  • When someone tells me they don't like Bob Dylan, or that his voice isn't good, I hear: Words don't mean that much to me.
  • The President has gone officially gone off the deep end.
  • This month, he picked fights with both the NFL and the NBA.  Both leagues are filled with talented, driven, hard-working minorities that are doing great things in American cities.  (Things The President should do).  The President will not invite them to the White House and wants them to be 'fired'.
  • This is not how this works in sports.  You don't just fire someone.
  • Plus, these leagues give so much hope and inspiration to people.
  • What's really interesting, to me, is that he'll stand behind KKK rallies, protecting those fuckers free speech, calling them "good people", yet turns on these same actions when they're done by a minority.
  • The man is unfit to lead.
  • Speaking of the NFL, it is losing a lot of viewers.  There are many reasons for this, but one is exemplified by the Lions v. Falcons game.  I spent 3.5 hours watching this game on a nice, September Sunday.  It ended via technicality.
  • The Officials made a decision to review a play; the result of their decision was a 10-second runoff of the clock.  This 10-second runoff ended the game, and the Lions lost.
  • This is satisfying for a grand total of no one.  Sure, the Falcons may be glad they won.  But really?
  • Why this is stupid and loses viewers: If the refs make the decision to review a play, they cannot then take 10-seconds off a game.  They fucked up, it's on them to fix it.  It's like a bank causing a person to overdraft, charging a fee, correcting the mistake, but then charging a fee for the correction.
  • These types of situations do not occur in other sports.  In MLB, they don't review a play and charge an extra out; the NBA doesn't just take time off of a game.  This shouldn't happen in the NFL.  Without fixing this type of situation, the NFL will continue to be unsatisfying and lose viewers.
