When I was younger, I was told that since I claimed to be a Christian, I had to be a witness for Christ. One of my jobs was simply not to lead people astray. This meant that my actions had to such that my conduct wouldn’t turn non-believers off to Christianity.
If my actions made a non-believer say, ‘wait, Christians do that?’, then that action was wrong. If I claimed Christ, but acted in ways that go anti-Christ, then I was sinning; I was being a hypocrite, and turning people off in the name of Jesus.
This was very bad.
It was based off of the verses Luke 17:1-3, which reads, “Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. So watch yourselves.”
If you believe Jesus and the words of Jesus, these words matter.
I personally know of at least two people that no longer believe in Jesus because Donald Trump claims to be Christian and Christians voted for Donald Trump.
This is much bigger than politics or party. People are actively turning away from God - causing little ones to stumble - and they are doing it because people are using claiming to be followers of Jesus and voting for Trump.
If this is you, you should think about this. Jesus said, “So watch yourselves.” It’s right there in the Bible. So you can ignore it. OR, you can simply not vote for Donald Trump .
