Dear Christians,
A question that I would like to ask you is this: in your opinion, has Donald Trump led or turned off more people to/from Jesus during his presidency?
Have his words and actions been like Christ?
I was raised in a Christian home, and went to Christian schools, and the people that raised me told me over and over to be a good witness. They told me that if I claimed Jesus, which I did and do, that I had to watch what I said, and how I acted. This was because, as a Christian, I was reflecting Jesus.
Donald Trump claims to be Christian, and to be persecuted for his “strong Christian faith”.
He is in the most powerful position in the entire world. As a Christian President, he should be the most accountable for his actions. Has he done things to reflect this strong faith? Has he made the world more Christlike? Has he used his power and influence to bring the kingdom of heaven here, now?
My answer would be no.
I can think of at least ten people that were on the fence regarding their belief in Jesus, curious about Christianity but not sure what that looked like. Christians supporting Donald Trump has turned them off. They see Christians supporting Trump as hypocrisy plain and simple. Which, it is.
This is a big deal.
To claim to be Christian and then oppress people, insult people, and only help those that say good about you goes directly against the teachings of Jesus.
Jesus had something to say about that. “If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?” (Matthew 5:46-47).
Words matter. Actions matter. Votes matter.
A vote for Trump is a vote against the teachings of Jesus.
