2 Things I Do Not Get
1. Donald Trump can talk about grabbing women by the pussy, and dismiss this as locker room talk*. As such: it's bad locker room talk - that is not how men speak in locker rooms. A man that uses that type of language shows general insecurity / lack of understand of how to treat women well. That is not, at all, how the game is played. But he can do this and dismiss it as normal. He can do this while retaining the Evangelical vote. (Doesn't hurt that he's white.) Meanwhile, a black man - Nate Parker, director of Birth of a Nation - was acquitted of a rape charge in 1999, and it threatens to stop his chance at an Oscar**. How can the supposed actions of a hollywood director have more consequences than a possible president?
2. Hillary Clinton both used and deleted thousands of emails from a private server while serving as secretary of state, and received no consequence***. The content of these emails, and the severity of that content is debatable, especially since over half of them were deleted. Prior to the ruling, her husband has a 'chance' encounter in a Phoenix airport with an important person in the decision on his wife's consequence. She gets no punishment. Meanwhile, Tom Brady may or may not have known that a football had a lower PSI than it should have, and he was suspended 4-games and his team was penalized draft picks. This ruling made its way high up in the courts****. The findings in both situations are similar, with no factual evidence, but the acknowledgement or errant judgment. How the actions of an NFL quarterback have more consequences than a possible president?
