How You can Help - a letter and an invitation
Hello Friends,
I’m writing with some good news: I got a book deal!
If you’ve known me for a while, you know that this has been a goal of mine for a long time. I’ve been writing for years. It’s taken all different shapes and forms - poems, This Months Thoughts, Guides for New Dads, Blog Series, Education Series, Short Circle Curriculum, short stories, writing clubs, family histories, a novel, and most recently: a book about God and Politics.
Also if you know me, you know I believe the best in people. I look at the world in a positive way. I want things to be good, peaceful, and harmonious. I think a lot of us do. Yet the second we start talking about important things - especially from a particular stance or lens, it all falls apart.
So I decided to take a stab at writing something that could make us come together. I had an inclining that a values-based approach might do some good. From this desire, Reclaiming the Narrative: a book about God and Politics was born. It was lighthearted at first. Reflections. Ideas. Concepts. But then the pandemic hit and none of it worked. It didn’t land and fell flat. Humor was out the window. Empathy was gone. Echo chambers were amplified. There was anger, division, name calling, taking sides. None of it helpful. None of it productive. None of it good dialogue. Another way to say this is: the narrative had been taken over.
It’s time to Reclaim the Narrative.
The goal of the book - ambitious as it may be - it to take a values-based approach to the things that divide us. From there, I’m not trying to get you to change your mind or tell you who to vote for. Rather, I propose bringing a values-centric approach to whatever it is you do. In your area of expertise. In your place of work. Day by day. Meeting by meeting. It’ll have a positive effect.
If this sounds appealing to you, PLEASE PREORDER the book. That would be HUGE.
I’m currently in the final stages of editing, just starting the marketing campaign. Presales go A LONG way toward making the book successful.
Thank You in Advance,
Tom Bratt
